The 55250 caliper has first and second designs which are interchangeable as complete assemblies; however, the
components ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE AND THE CORRECT KITS AND PISTONS MUST BE DETERMINED when rebuilding calipers.
The caliper housing is machined differently to accept the new boot design. The first design caliper assembly has 3 boot "folds." The improved design has 2 boot "folds."
A new kit (666365.) will service the first design Bendix 2.88" calipers. This kit contains a silicone rubber boot
for improved heat resistance and can be installed in old caliper design housings.
