Battery Cables
Battery cables must be very tight any lose connections will render the system useless. The copper in the battery cable ages and loses its conductive properties. Any cuts in the rubber jacket of the battery cable can also expose the wire and allow it to oxidize. The ends and terminals of battery cable will corrode. Hard starting or no starting situations can often be resolved with a simple battery cable check and cleaning, tightening or replacement. Our high quality battery cables may be the solution.
A starting motor will draw large amounts of current through the battery cable. The battery cables must be of sufficient size to carry such heavy current. Since the battery cables are close to the battery and could corrode, it is important that the battery cable make good electrical contact with the cable clamps. Any loose battery cable connections will result in high resistance and voltage drop that may cause a no start situation, caused by the battery cable. Shop for Battery Cables>>

Battery Terminals
Replace battery terminals if needed or clean the battery terminals if they are encrusted with deposits. Use a wire brush dipped in baking soda and water to clean battery terminals of corrosion and ensure that the deposits do not block the flow of electrical current.
The battery supplies electrical power to the starter through the battery terminals, along with the rest of the electrical components of the vehicle, which is necessary to start the engine. The battery cable terminals connect the battery to the electrical system. The battery depends on the terminals to provide power to the starter motor, ignition system, fuel system and other electrical devices during engine starting. Shop for Battery Terminals>>

Fuses
Fuses are a safety device that can turn off the electricity. Fuses are designed to interrupt the flow of electricity when some condition occurs that would cause an excessive amount of electricity to flow. The primary function of a fuse is to prevent fire but they also protect sensitive electrical equipment. There are several different types of fuses that in vehicles today but they all operate in the same way. Fuses can be a cylinder of glass and plug in fuses are also popular.
The fuse has a fusible link inside made of a special type of metal that melts at a fairly low temperature. The fusible link inside the fuse heats up just like the wire does when electricity flows through it. If something goes wrong and suddenly a lot of electricity starts flowing in the wire, the fuse heats up to its melting point and melts. The fuse interrupts the flow of electricity and prevents damage to our wires and equipment. Shop for Fuses>>

Solenoids and Relays
Solenoids and relays are needed to make the electrical system on your vehicle operate. Very simply stated, turning on the ignition creates a activates Solenoids and relays to pull the solenoid plunger forward and engages starter drive so that its pinion gear meshes with the engine's crankshaft flywheel. After the engine starts, the ignition key is released to break the starting circuit. The Solenoids and relays magnetic fields shut off and the return spring pulls the plunger back, automatically shutting off the starter motor and disengaging the starter drive. Switches
Using an electrical or electronic component, or switches to transfer current from one route to another. In its simplest form (On -Off) to make or break a circuit. Common types of switches are: Single Pole Single Throw switches SPST, Single Pole Double Throw switches SPDT Double Pole, Single Throw switches DPST, and Double Pole Double Throw switches DPDT. SPST switches control a single wire circuit, SPDT switches control two single wire circuits, allowing only one circuit to be energized at a time.
DPST switches control two circuits simutaneously. They act as two switches actuated by a single lever. DPDT switches control four circuits, allowing only two circuits to be energized at the same time. Shop for Switches>>

Switches, Headlight
We offer AC Delco, Motorcraft and Cole Hersee headlight switches. AC Delco is generally a replacement for Chevrolet and other GM vehicles. Motorcraft is generally a replacement for Ford and the Ford family of vehicles. Headlight switches of course control the headlights but sometimes they are combination switches. Combination switches may control the turn signals, the wipers etc. When you have trouble with these components it may be wise to check your headlight switch for proper operation. When the headlight switch needs to be replaced you will want to find a high quality headlight switch like those headlight switches from AC Delco, Motorcraft and Cole Hersee.

Switches, Ignition
A vehicle's ignition switch allows one to control the power to many of the car's accessories. The ignition switch also connects the starter to the battery, allowing the battery to send electricity to start the engine. The ignition switch includes the lock cylinder into which the key is inserted, and the electronic switch that sits just behind the lock cylinder. Sometimes two parts of the ignition switch are combined into one unit, in other cars they remain separate. The function of the ignition switch and starter was performed by turning a crank on the front of the vehicle. We live in a day of convenience and the ignition switch is one of many offered by AC Delco, Motorcraft and Cole Hersee.

Switches, Push and Pull
One- or two-circuits can be operated by a push or pull of the knob to activate a push pull switch. Many older headlight switches and some newer ones were push pull switches. Many push pull switches have silver contacts and of many configurations like on off one circuit and many others. Some have chrome knobs on the push pull switch or some are designed to match the oem design of the vehicle. We offer Motorcraft push pull switches for Fords and AC Delco push pull switches for GM replacements.

Trailer Connectors
Our Tectran and Phillips, Haldex and TruckLite trailer connectors are J2222 compliant. meet The new SAE J2222 contains numerous improvements for Trailer connectors. The most notable of which is a tightening in the requirement for sag resistance of Trailer connectors. The previous document allowed sag of as much as 54” on a 15 ft coiled cable! Sag-and-drag is a common cause of coiled cable Trailer connector failure. The new Trailer connector Standard dramatically improves the performance criteria, more clearly defines working length and works in conjunction with the TMC Recommended Practices relating to the selection, installation and maintenance of Trailer connectors. Wire Terminals
Wire terminals ae weakest link of the electrical system on a vehicle. More voltage is lost through incorrectly sized or poorly installed connectors than through the length of wiring in the system. Also, corrosion due to inadequate sealing of connectors will lead to line faults. The use of heat shrink wire terminals is well worth the small additional cost. We offer the best heat shrink tubing either in tubes or incorporated with the wire terminals. Shop for Wire Terminals>>

Wire, Bulk
Traditionally, 14 gauge has been the most popular size of primary wire used. However today’s Tectran tractor and trailer 7-way wiring systems use 12 gauge wiring for lighting, 10 gauge wiring for the stop lamp (red) and ABS (blue) circuits and an 8 gauge wire to provide an adequate ground return. All new tractors and trailers must be equipped with these sizes of wiring to provide the necessary power to support lighting & ABS systems. To make matters worse, the SAE J1128 passenger car standard to which GPT primary wire is made, calls for up to 10% less copper than that used in heavy trucking applications. When you’re wiring using primary wire, it is important to at least match the wire sizes used in the rest of the circuits. Most wiring in newer tractors and trailers will be 12 gauge or higher.
